Sleep much lately? I don’t. I’m not aware of anyone who cares about the survival and soul of our democracy who isn’t experiencing profound disquiet in this intense moment in the American experiment. Not only our lives and the lives of our children and grandchildren, but also the fate of life on this precious Earth will be impacted by how Americans cast their votes on November 5th

As we barrel towards one of the most consequential presidential elections in modern history, I’d like to invite you to what promises to be a richly stimulating Presidency Conference in which I’ll be honored to speak alongside colleagues from across the country and across the pond. It will take place from October 18 through the 20th, both in person in San Francisco and via Zoom, to make attendance as easy as possible for all who seek to better understand the depth ramifications of these perplexingly difficult times.

The San Francisco C.G. Jung Institute has been presenting quadrennial Presidency Conferences since 2000 to explore “the psychological dimensions of our political landscape…as expressed in the major political arena of the U.S. presidential election.”

This year’s conference organizers have invited “leading Jungians in the field of politics and psyche, providing a unique opportunity to explore the deeper meaning of the dystopian landscape we face in our political moment.” My fellow presenters will include Carolyn Bates, Ipek Burnett, QiRe Ching, Patricia Damery, Betty Sue Flowers, Donald Kalsched, Monica Luci, Andrew Samuels, Tom Singer, Betty Teng, Rob Tyminski, and Alan Vaughan.

I hope you can join us! I’ll be speaking Friday night. And I ask with love and hope that you make sure to vote!
